Hauptinhalt
For three decades, I worked as a graphic designer in Vienna – one of the world’s cultural capitals – primarily for clients in the arts and culture sector. I founded and later left studios, collaborated with international agencies, and authored books on urban typography.
Hosted walks and talks, curated exhibitions, initiated independent projects and supported long-term clients, including the Wien Museum for almost 25 years. And I travelled extensively through Europe and Asia, documenting typographic findings for my typetraveldiary.
Now, in 2026 and in our mid-50s, we’re starting anew:
living nomadically between Japan and Southeast Asia, looking for new projects and adventures.

Type Travel Diary
A global collection of typographical finds. A closer look at the typographical details of a city often leads to unexpected discoveries. Many of the local peculiarities described contribute charmingly to the flair of the destinations, yet are threatened with extinction.

Vienna’s Last Signpainter Bio Pic
In cooperation with Better Letters London, this documentary film was produced about Josef Samuel, Vienna’s last sign painter, and his sign painting museum, the only one of its kind in Europe. Between August 2018 and September 2019, the film was screened at festivals worldwide.

Sign Week Vienna – Festival for Urban Typography
Vienna has a long tradition of individual city signage and was once considered the metropolis of sign painting. Sign Week Vienna, which I organised and curated, was intended to commemorate this heritage and stimulate discourse about the changes in the city and their impact on Vienna’s characteristic (typo)graphic coding.
Since 2016
Typo walks, among others for the Vienna Museum, design austria and the Typographic Society Austria (tga).

Ghostletters Vienna Publication
They are fleeting witnesses to history, constantly threatened by dismantling and repainting: ghost letters appear wherever lettering is removed from portals, leaving behind traces. Published by Falter Publishers, this book sets out in search of traces of the once proud lettering that was once an essential part of Vienna's visual identity but has now largely been lost.
