Dogs, pigeons and rats are typical city animals. But Vienna is also home to crocodiles, whales and water buffalo! You encounter them everywhere — whether as pictures on walls, house signs or sculptures outdoors and in museums. This city exploration in forty poems by children’s book author Michael Hammerschmid received the Austrian State Prize in 2024.

My first design for a children’s book was published to mark the reopening of the Vienna Museum.
