In 23 chapters, 21 authors trace the continuities and turning points of the 20th and early 21st centuries and situate the city in the Burgenland and Austrian context.

The publication was released both as an exhibition catalogue and as a comprehensive modern city chronicle on the occasion of the celebrations marking 100 years of Eisenstadt as provincial capital.
